A Chic Wedding with Vintage Details in the South of France

Teagan and Nathan’s chic wedding was brimming with “je ne sais quoi.”  Tucked away in the hills above the famous Côte d’Azur, their venue was the perfect blend between sophisticated and organic style. The ceremony and reception had delicate attention to detail and an overall authentic aesthetic. Each piece of decor and wardrobe was lovingly chosen by the couple in collaboration with Diwan by Design. Custom details were key to creating an unforgettable atmosphere, and the couple’s style was evident in every element.

Although the couple is from the tri-state area, they made the decision to have a destination wedding because nothing compared to the magic of the South of France. France has been an integral part of the bride’s life, from her first trip to Nice to her solo trip selecting her wedding dress in Paris. The venue, Chateau Castellaras, offers a laid-back approach to French decadence.

The bride donned multiple looks throughout the event. The first was a vintage lace gown from Happy Isles Salon with a statement pearl necklace. Wearing a distinct dress for a first look may not be traditional, but the stunning result will undoubtedly influence more brides to create a similarly special moment.

The ceremony was all about the bride and groom – as it should be. Baby’s breath surrounded the couple, matching the bride’s silky white Vivienne Westwood frock. Of all the nuanced decisions throughout the planning process, the bride knew with certainty that she would wear a Westwood gown as she walked down the aisle.

There were several elements that created the perfect balance between effortless and elegant. For example, the grounds were filled with overgrown wildflowers in cohesive color palettes. Champagne was flowing – a must for a French wedding – and the historic grounds complemented the overgrown atmosphere.

For the reception, quirky menus with lighthearted typography matched the vibrant floral centerpieces. The key to making this wedding appear carefree was the natural take on refinement. The reception was a perfect representation of “just enough.”

While the color scheme and French opulence may seem minimalistic at first glance, the sparse and airy decor definitely had an unfussy appearance. The recurring theme of baby’s breath popped up throughout the venue, and romantic candles illuminated the space as the sun sunk below the horizon.

Your day should be done your way and Teagan and Nathan are proof that when you stay true to your unique style, the ingenuity permeates every aspect.
